Who Is All This AI Actually For?
Specialist CBT therapy for anxiety, OCD, depression and more in West London
Who is all this AI actually for? I find myself asking that question increasingly often when people come to my practice with a new, diffuse anxiety that sits somewhere between fascination and fear. I'm Sanah Younis, a BABCP-accredited CBT therapist leading The Lyceum Clinic in West London, and I work with clients from Chiswick, Hammersmith, Ealing and online who are trying to make sense of rapid change at work and in life. In the clinic I hear similar stories: students worried about future careers, parents anxious about what automation means for their children, professionals unsettled by shifting expectations and a loss of perceived agency. Some describe sleeplessness tied to a stream of news about job displacement; others feel a strange moral unease about technologies they use every day. From a CBT perspective these worries often feed cycles of catastrophic prediction, rumination and avoidance that make everyday decisions harder, not easier. Therapy offers a way to slow this down. I work with people to map the specific thoughts that drive their anxiety, test predictions with behavioural experiments, and reconnect with values that matter beyond headlines. Part of this is practical—learning to tolerate uncertainty, restructure unhelpful thinking patterns and build decision-making habits—and part of it is exploratory: asking whether our systems of work and value are keeping pace with technological change. I want to hold that tension between legitimate structural concerns and the individual experience of anxiety without collapsing one into the other. Are we thinking hard enough about what mass adoption of AI is doing to autonomy, livelihoods and meaning? I don’t have definitive answers, but I do offer a space to explore those questions, reduce distress and find actionable steps forward. If you’re based in West London, in Chiswick, Hammersmith or Ealing, or prefer online sessions, and you’re feeling unsettled by AI’s reach into work and life, get in touch for a short consultation to see how CBT at The Lyceum Clinic might help.
